Cocktails: Long Island Iced Tea

Named for its resemblance to Iced Tea, the Long Island Iced Tea is, on paper, a bit of a mess. Made with four types of spirit, coke, triple sec (orange liqueur) and lemon juice (oh, an no actual tea), you'd think it was a dirty pint rather than one of the World's favourite drinks. But it is. And it works. And boy does it get you drunk quick!

It was invented in, you guessed it, Long Island in the early '70s by a guy named Robert "Rosebud" Butt at Oak Beach Inn - this drink-equivalent of bubble & squeak has so far stood the test of time, and we imagine, as one of the true seriously-boozy classic cocktails, that it's going no where!

  • 25ml White Rum
  • 25ml Gin
  • 25ml Vodka
  • 25ml Tequila
  • 25ml Triple Sec
  • 50ml freshly-squeezed lime juice
  • 25ml sugar syrup
  • Cola
  • Lemon slice to garnish

How To

Add all ingredients except the cola and lemon slice to a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Strain into a sling/hurricane glass full of ice. Top up with cola and stir. Garnish with lemon slice. And enjoy, responsibly.
