Cocktails: Vodka Martini

Like the gin martini, but with vodka of course. James Bond's drink of choice but whether you shake or stir is up to you and how you like your martinis. Cocktail purists are of the opinion that you should always stir your martinis, as shaking them means you often end up with a very diluted drink with shards of ice in it. But, if you like a little texture in your cocktail - then shake away!

Serving this drink ice cold is key, and with minimal dilution, just enough water to unlock the nuances of the vodka. This is a great cocktail to let premium vodkas really shine and don't be afraid to play around with your garnish - find out what works for you and your palate.

  • 60ml Vodka
  • 15ml Vermouth
  • Garnish of choice (olive, pickled onion, lemon twist)

How To

In a mixing glass, add all the ingredients and plenty of ice. Stir for around 20 seconds and fine strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with your garnish of choice, I'm going for a pickled onion.
