Top 5 Christmas Party Cocktails

Top 5 Christmas Party Cocktails

Damien Higgins of Social and Cocktail gives us his Top 5 Christmas Party Cocktails, drinks that made us drool while reading the recipes, before we'd even seen his scrummy photos... Think nostalgic tastes such as Angel Delight, Chocolate Orange and Cherry Soda.

"Over the last few years, cocktail culture has exploded in the UK, with ever increasing numbers of bars, pubs and restaurants offering a cocktail menu to meet the huge demand. This trend has also made its way onto the party circuit with cocktails now the go-to drinks to serve at a Christmas party, at home or in the workplace."

"For a range of cocktails to serve to your Christmas party guests, look no further. An alternative method is to hire a cocktail events company, who can offer cocktail packages including mobile bars, cocktail bartenders, cocktail glassware and all the ingredients required to whip up a delicious batch of party cocktails.

"These are my five Christmas Party Cocktails that have a link to the festive season and will be sure to go down a storm with your guests." - Damien Higgins

Christmas is a time for indulgence, and you certainly won't get much more indulgent than this dessert cocktail. Reminiscent of Angel Delight, this is a retro blast.

Add all the ingredients into a Boston mixing glass and fill with ice Shake hard for about 15 seconds Using sugar syrup as a glue, dip the edge of a martini glass into Hundreds & Thousands Strain the liquid into the rimmed glass

Everybody remembers getting a Terry's Chocolate Orange for Christmas. Well, now you can have it in a glass… with alcohol.

45 ml white chocolate liqueur 30 ml Baileys Irish Cream 20 ml orange liqueur 2 teaspoons cocoa powder 1 teaspoon icing sugar 1 orange twist

Mix the cocoa powder and sugar on a small plate Dampen the rim of a martini glass and swirl in the powder mixture Add the chocolate liqueur and Baileys to a cocktail shaker filled most of the way with ice and shake for about 20 seconds Strain into a martini glass and float the orange liqueur on top Garnish with an orange twist

A classic Mojito is lacking a little festive pizzazz, so why not move it up a level with a splash of bubbly?

The Ingredients:

40 ml white rum 30 ml freshly squeezed lime juice Fresh mint 2 teaspoons sugar Splash of Champagne A straw to serve

Muddle a few mint leaves in a glass with sugar and lime juice Add the rum and top up with Champagne Garnish with sprig of mint leaves and the straw

Christmas is a time of Baileys Irish Cream, and here is one of our favourite cocktails created with this delicious liqueur.

The Ingredients:

30 ml Baileys Irish Cream 30 ml coffee liqueur 1 tablespoon cherry liqueur

Pre-measure your ingredients into separate shot glasses Pour the cherry liqueur into a rocks/old fashioned glass first Slowly pour the coffee liqueur into the glass over the back of a spoon, being careful to let it run down the inside. Add the Baileys using the same spoon method Serve immediately, being careful not to rock the drink too much, as you want to prevent the ingredients mixing.

Tequila cocktails have made a big resurgence in recent years, with some fantastic tasting tequilas being launched. Why not end the year in style with one of the very best tequila cocktails?

The Ingredients:

37.5 ml tequila 12.5 ml crème de cassis 12.5 ml freshly squeezed lime juice Ginger beer

How to Make:

Pour the tequila, cassis and lime juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well Strain into a collins glass filled with ice Top with ginger beer

Thanks Damien!
